Invitation to a Conference on Ireland and Galicia in Santiago de Compostela in May 2019
Links between Ireland and Galicia have a long history. There will be a great opportunity to explore this fascinating history at a three-day conference being held in Santiago de Compostela from Thursday 9th of May to Saturday 11th of May 2019.

Lectures, walking tours, a bus tour, will all feature, and those attending will have the opportunity to meet both Galician and Irish historians. Delegates will have the option of joining additional outings in the few days following the conference. Those attending can choose to avail of conference accommodation in the historic San Martin Pinario hotel, right beside Santiago cathedral. The full conference programme along with details of how to register and the options for booking conference accommodation is available at www.irishsettlement.ie.
The Spanish launch of Bernadette Cunningham’s new book on Medieval Irish pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela (Dublin: Four Courts Press) will take place in Santiago on one of the evenings of the conference.

Why not chose a spring break in Santiago de Compostela, and join like-minded Irish and Galician people with an interest in the history and environment of our two countries?
Or, if doing the Camino de Santiago this year, why not aim to arrive in Santiago in time for this conference? The conference is organised by the Group for the Study of Irish Historic Settlement and it promises to be a great few days of celebration of Ireland’s historic links with Spain.
